Doug was raised in Petaluma, CA and earned a BA at Stanford University and MBA at the University of Santa Clara. He spent the majority of his professional career as a professional staff member with the Boy Scouts of America, serving as a member of the National staff, as well as Executive Director in several California locations. His duties included volunteer recruiting and management, board development, fundraising, membership development, program delivery and staff management. 
 
He joined his first Rotary club in 1972 and has been active in Rotary for most the time since then. He has been a member of Rotary in communities where he was assigned to serve with Scouting, including Pacifica, Menlo Park, Los Altos, Burlingame, Stockton, San Jose and Sacramento. His first introduction to Rotary was as a Scout when his Rotary-sponsored troop visited the Rotary Club of Petaluma annually to provide a program during Scout Month. 
 
He was president of the Penn Valley Club in 2010-11, and served as Assistant Governor for Area 4. He is a major donor, Paul Harris Society Member, and Bequest Society Member and Triple Crown Donor.
 
During his tenure as District Governor, Doug is proud that the Triple Crown Donor program was introduced and 38 Rotarians and partners were honored with this award at the District Donor Recognition Dinner, 39 of 58 clubs earned the Rotary Citation, the Passport to Amador Club was chartered, three Rotary Community Corps were started, the Rotary Leadership Institute was reintroduced, and the Avenues of Service Seminar training was initiated. 
 
Doug has been active in his community as a Sheriff's volunteer, board member of Habitat For Humanity and Western Sierra Medical Clinic, and with his church. He continues to be an active Scouting volunteer on a Regional and National levels.
 
His wife, Karen, has served co-president of Penn Valley Rotary. She is a retired Catholic school educator and adjunct professor for the University of San Francisco School of Education. They live in the Lake Wildwood community. Their adult children are both married and reside with their families in Wyoming and San Francisco.
